More evidence beards are being eased in . . .
by neat blue dog inthe june 2017 watchtower tells the experience of a bible student who was homeless and unkempt, but improved his appearance after being preached to.. peter began to change.
he bathed, neatlytrimmed his beard, and put on the betterclothes that don offered him.
peter continued to maintain a clean appearance.. so here we see that with a neatly trimmed beard the watchtower's writers view him as having "a clean appearance".

A Beard Maverick
by EyesOpenHeartBroken inso i went to the kh for the first time in a month, and the first brother in our congregation has grown a full beard.
i am in a western u.s. semi-rural area in a cong with an extremely conservative and controlling elder body.
oddly enough, it seemed like people were going out of their way to converse with him and act like they didn't notice the beard or they complimented the beard.

Well, just like the experience of the brother in the latest WT who was discouraged from getting married but did it anyway because this restriction 'was unscriptural' and lost privileges as a result temporarily, JWs can grow beards and say they're following the example of the brother in the April 2017 WT.

A new way to boost hours
by neat blue dog init seems that metro witnesses have beeen directed to now have a total of 5 people at each location, as well as 'encouraged' to witness on their lunch breaks, (thus being able to count their time all the way through).
these 2 things should help boost the yearly hours..

Life is changing for me: no pioneering, got a job!
by Skepsis ina month ago i decided to register in this board.
i had decided to step down pioneering but was frightened about the consequences.
i had finished my university degree some months before (despite disaproval from brothers in my congregation) and i had to choose: continue pioneering and working in jobs with no future or starting a career, working full-time.. i was thinking to postpone the decisiton but... i was fed up with preaching.

Hey Skepsis, sorry for changing the subject, but considering you were recently a pioneer, do you have on your phone or tablet the pioneer school book in jwpub format, for use in the JW Library app? The file name should be "pt14_E.jwpub", and wifibandit can help you leak it.

The only leaked jwpub version I've seen is in Spanish. I have the same question.

"Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth."
by pale.emperor innow that im not longer a jw this verse puzzles me.
being born and raised a witness, this verse confirmed to me that jesus was talking about a paradise on earth.
but now that everything the witnesses taught is 99.99% incorrect can somone explain what he was getting at here?

Pretty sure it means "inheriting" the right to judge the earth after being resurrected to heaven.

1917 - What REALLY happened?
by neat blue dog inregarding what happened post russell in 1917, if you ask a jw, they'll say it was the fault of the ousted board members who were 'self willed'.
if you ask an ex-jw, they'll say it was a 'power grab' by rutherford.
the latest yearbook elaborates on the situation:.

Best answer so far, thanks. Clear, detailed and reaffirming of what I already thought without misjudging my intent.

Regarding what happened post Russell in 1917, if you ask a JW, they'll say it was the fault of the ousted board members who were 'self willed'. If you ask an ex-JW, they'll say it was a 'power grab' by Rutherford. The latest yearbook elaborates on the situation:
"Shortly before Brother Russell died, he had arranged to
send Johnson to England as one of the organization’s traveling representatives. . . . Sadly, the adulation he received began to warp his judgment, and he became convinced that he should be Broth-
er Russell’s successor.
Without authority, Johnson dismissed some Bethel family members in England who opposed him. He also tried to
seize control of the organization’s bank account in London,
at which point Brother Rutherford recalled him to the United States.
Johnson returned to Brooklyn, but instead of humbly accepting the correction he had been given, he repeatedly
tried to persuade Brother Rutherford to let him return to
England to continue his work there. Failing in this endeavor, Johnson tried to influence the board of directors, four of
whom sided with him. Anticipating that these men would try to seize the organization’s funds in the United States, as Johnson had attempted to do in England, Brother Rutherford acted to remove them from the board of directors. The law required
that each member of the board of directors be elected annually by members of the corporation. However, at the annual meeting of the corporation on January 6, 1917, only
three members of the board, Joseph F. Rutherford, Andrew
N. Pierson, and William E. Van Amburgh, were elected.
They filled the positions of president, vice president, and
secretary-treasurer, respectively. No election was held for
the remaining four positions on the board of directors. The
men who had held those positions, the four opposers, had
been elected to the board in the past, and it was understood by some that they would hold those positions for life.
However, because they had not been reelected at the annual meeting, they were actually not legal members of the
board at all! So in July 1917, Brother Rutherford exercised
his right to appoint four faithful men to fill the vacant board
positions."Also, one thing I've heard over and over through anti-JW sources is that the Bible Students lost most of their membership to splinter groups. However, the yearbook goes on to say:
"While some Bible Students sided with them
and formed other organizations, the vast majority of the Bible Students stayed faithful"
"the results of a referendum of the congregations,
which were published in The Watch Tower, showed that the
vast majority of the brothers supported Brother Rutherford
and the faithful men at Bethel"I know there's two sides to every story and I'd like to read more if anybody has info or links. Thanks.
